WHY YOU NEED A BIG VISION + HOW TO CREATE IT
Dream business, dream life.
That’s what we all want, right?
In order to sign those dreamy clients, to run that dreamy business and live that dreamy life, you have to have a vision.
When you have a vision in mind, you are more likely to feel motivated, to be productive and to feel confident about what you're doing because you'll know you're doing it for a purpose.
If we don't know what we want or we can't work out what we want, we procrastinate, we faff around doing tasks that don’t move us forward, we choose Netflix over action, and then that all leads to feelings of guilt that we’re not taking action. The feelings of guilt stop us moving forward and throw us into a downward spiral of self-criticism, judgement and comparisonitis.
How hard is it to take action when you lack confidence and feel like you’re not as good as your peers who are ‘killing it’ on Insta?
This is why it’s crucial to get clear on your big vision.
One thing I want to mention before I take you through the process is this: You can have any dream you want.
There’ll always be someone who thinks your dream is too big, unrealistic or you’re living in fantasy land. Likewise, there’ll be people who think your dreams are too small and you should surely want more from your life.
What other people think of your dreams is not your concern.
How to create your big vision
To help you create your big vision, I’ve created The Big Vision Bundle which you can access here.
To make the process easier, I like to break my vision up into 6 sections:
• Business
• Money & Wealth
• Health & Wellness
• Relationships
• Fun & Adventure
• Mindset & Personal Development
Although we’ll be creating our big vision in one go, I want to urge you not to try to change everything at once and instead focus on one area every 90 days. For example, for the next 90 days you might focus on achieving your business goals and the 90 days after that, your focus might be on the health & wellness goals you create.
Trying to change all the things at once will be hard, it’ll feel overwhelming and you won’t stick to any new habit you create for yourself.
For each area of your life, you need to ask yourself some questions to help uncover what it is you really want. You can find a list of all the questions in The Big Vision Bundle but for the sake of this article, we’re focusing on your business.
Download the workbook or get out your journal find a pen, switch off distractions and write out the answer to the following questions:
How do I want to spend my days?
Do you want to get up and start work straight away? Do you have a lie in? Do you want to be an early riser? Do you just work in the mornings, the afternoons? Do you want to work weekends, four days a week?
Who do I want to serve?
Who's your dream audience? Who's a dream client that you would work with and be like, “Oh my God, this is so much fun!”? What’s their business, what are their struggles?
What do I want to sell?
What service do you have that you can sell that you are head over heels in love with? Do you specialise in the management of one platform or do you offer multiple platforms? Do you just do strategy or profile audits or do you do monthly management too?
Last year I created a dream service based on what I’d uncovered whilst creating my own big vision and not only did I love every second of it, so did my clients.
How often will I be working?
How often do you want to work? Do you want to work nine to five hours? Do you want to work two hours a day? You really need to get clear on this because it impacts how much you charge and how many clients you can work with at any one time.
Once you have an overview of what you want your business to look like, you can set yourself 3 small goals to start making that happen now. This, again, requires you to ask some more questions:
> What do I need to do to make this happen?
> How do I do that?
Answering these questions gives you a breakdown of the exact steps you need to take to make your big vision become your reality. Once you’ve done one area of your life, repeat the process for the other five areas and you’ll soon have your big vision mapped out in front of you.
Once you've broken down what it is you actually want, it’s time to bring it all together which you do by writing out your perfect day.
Meditate for a few minutes, visualise all the areas of your life coming together and write out your perfect day as it appears in your mind. Be super specific when you’re writing this down. Start with what time you wake up, what you do first thing, what you wear, what you eat, what you can see/smell/hear…
Go through this exact day over and over in your head every day and tap into the feelings you’ll have as if you’re already experiencing them. This exercise will fill you with inspiration and motivation to get up and take action.
It’s important to mention that over time, your BIG Vision may change: that’s ok. Revisit this process every 3-6 months and check in with yourself that you’re still working towards what you want.
